We have a very attractive
building that is full of character. Our
classrooms are very spacious and provide a
comfortable environment for learning. In addition
we have a Computer room and a library. Our hall has a
good selection of P.E. equipment and a stage that
we used for school
productions. Within the building is a room that houses our before and after school 'Funclub'. School meals
are prepared onsite in our kitchens. Our school
grounds are expansive offering two large playing
fields that are used throughout the year for
sporting activities. We have an environmental area
that includes a pond,
a butterfly garden and a hedgerow.
The first stones of our school building were
laid on the 28th March 1935 by Alderman Sydney
Myatt and Alderman Tom. O. Harper.
The building began it's life as 'Westlands
Girls Modern School'. It was opened 27th November
1936 by Geoffrey Hithersay Shakespeare M.P.
(Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of
Education).
