Friarswood
School have just finished having a brand new toilet block installed. The
old toilets had been in the school since it was first built! The toilets
are looking wonderful they have got heaters, locks that work and bright
colours.
We
interviewed a few of the children to see what they thought. Lily Martin
said,” I think the toilets are really nice.”
Catherine Managh also commented “I think the toilets are really nice
but there a bit small and the sinks are to low down for me.” Katie Day
said that she likes them very much and she likes them a lot better than
the old ones.
We
also interviewed Mr. Selby the Headteacher:
Q: Do
you like the new toilet block?
A: Yes but they are smaller than the old ones because we have fitted a
storeroom in the hall.
Q:
How many toilets are there in the new block and how many pupils will be
using them?
A: There 90 juniors in the school and really there is 50/50 girls and
boys. The girls have 6 toilets and the boys have 3 including the
urinals.
Q:
How much money did it cost to build them?
A: The whole project cost £40,000.
Q:
Was there any money donated and who did it come from?
A: The Education fund because they were the worst in the county!
Q:
Who will officially open the toilets?
A: No one yet because really they are toilets.
Q: Do
you think that the new water fountains will be popular with the
children?
A: Yes because there were not enough before.
Q: Do
you think the children will use the drinking fountains properly?
A: Well when we got them they were too powerful, so we reduced the power
on them.
Q:
Will the prefects be on duty at playtimes and lunchtime?
A: Yes, but not all the time.
Thank
you Mr. Selby for your time and for the new toilet block.
