We offer a broad balanced curriculum to

The Literacy Hour
and Numeracy Hour are fully implemented and working successfully
within our school. These are well resourced, with a

non-fiction titles in our recently established library, and an
extensive selection of mathematical equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL
AREA |

Investigative work is encouraged
throughout both Key Stages, particularly in Maths
and Science. Specially
prepared environmental areas develop specific
skills, and we also have playgrounds and fields
for the children to explore.

CLUBS
AND SPORTS |

Our extensive grounds enable all children
to participate in a variety of sporting
activities. Popular
sports include football, cricket, rounders,
basketball, netball, hockey, athletics and
gymnastics.
In addition the children also
swim at the Jubilee baths in Newcastle.
Others clubs include a computer
clubs, many music based activities and a school council.

COMPUTERS |

We
have very good ICT facilities at school. Our computer suite
has 18 computers and an interactive whiteboard. Each classroom
also has a computer. All computers throughout the school have
broadband connection to the internet. One of our class rooms
has an interactive white board and we plan to expand this.
We have several digital cameras and video cameras, a digital
microscope an sensor equipment.

MUSIC |

Music is a particular strength of our school.
In Key Stage one it is taught by enthusiastic
class teachers and in Key Stage Two by a talented
music specialist. Standards are very high. |

Children have the
opportunity to sing in the Infant and Junior
Choirs, play recorders and for a small fee learn
to play a musical instrument. In addition children can take part in
numerous productions will culminate in a large
scale show in the Summer Term.

EDUCATIONAL
VISITS |

Educational visits enrich the curriculum areas studied,
and provide valuable experiences for our
children. We travel to a
variety of places including Stapely Water
Gardens, Coombes Valley, Shugborough, Shooting
Butts and Manchester Science Museum. Year 6
children have a residential week at Stanley Head
Outdoor Education Centre, where they tackle such
activities as Bouldering, Mountain Biking,
Caving, Archery, Orienteering and Skiing.
Our P.T.A. is very
active organising both fund raising and social
events throughout the year. They play a vital
role in linking the school with the local
community. The school benefits greatly from their
enthusiastic support.
