Marker and Whiteboard goodbye! Blackboard and chalk, As if! The latest teaching device is the Interactive white board. We quite recently had one of these new devices built into the Year 6 classroom and we have now decided that we would like another one (in another classroom). The school did a fun run to raise the money for a new interactive whiteboard. We needed to raise a lot of money, to be exact we had to raise £2800 to buy a new one.

Interactive whiteboards are large computerised whiteboards and they require a computer and projector to run it properly. They involve lots of educational programmes and it helps making learning fun. Here’s a picture of an interactive whiteboard and some info on it.

20 Unique Programmable Soft Keys. Giving instant access to prepared notes/presentation/PowerPoint or the Net.

A light, easy to handle pen. Allows anyone to write easily on the board.

Graph Paper/Lined Paper. Are automatically built in the system and can be produced in any colour.

Snapshots. Means that any notes made during a presentation are not lost, and can be recalled later and saved to a named file

All the Year 6’s have enjoyed having the interactive white board and as year 6’s we think another class would benefit from having it. Arguments have been made about having books instead but the interactive whiteboard would supply just as much info even more and it is more up to date when new discoveries have been made.

They are very useful as the Educational video and DVD screen is a lot bigger and helps you learn more easily and makes learning more fun. Robert Norman says,  “I think that the interactive white board is the best teaching device ever”. Jordan Whitfield said, “It is a brilliant class educational thing”. However Lily Martin thinks, “we should have spent the money on good things like books and playground equipment”.

The main point is that people would much more enjoy learning from the Interactive Whiteboard then learning from some old boring books.
